To assist farmers and landowners in building wealth and improving their lands through NRCS programs and emphasize the importance of building relationships with USDA-NRCS employees on local, state, and federal levels.
How do I know which programs would benefit me?
Requesting a conservation plan from NRCS will highlight which aspects of your land could benefit from existing programs.
What is the benefit of enrolling in NRCS programs?
There are over 120 different practices within NRCS programs that assist farmers and landowners with developing and maintaining land as an asset.
What kind of benefits does KKAC provide to land management participants?
KKAC provides training and education on the main wealth-building programs available from the USDA and other similar entities.
Does the land have to be used for farming to qualify?
No, there are programs to benefit land that is not used for agricultural production.

How to Clear Heirs' Property Issues

Go to the circuit clerk’s office to receive the last recorded deed; last official owner.

Start building a family tree and building relationships with your family -- try to come to some agreement; if you’re unable to, you may lose it all.

When does Sowing Seeds Start?
Sowing Seeds generally runs concurrent with the school calendar, starting in August and ending in May/June. Recruitment typically occurs in June/July.
When did Sowing Seeds Begin?
The KKAC Sowing Seeds for Success program started and has been in operation since 2021. It currently operates in Arkansas and Mississippi.
Who are some of the Sowing Seeds community partners?
Major partners include Greenway Equipment the University of Arkansas Lon Mann Cotton Research Station (Marianna, AR), the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Department of Industrial Technology, Management & Applied Engineering (Pine Bluff, AR), and Greenway Equipment (Helena, AR). The program also partners with local farmers and agricultural agencies such as Arkansas Game and Fish, among others.
What is the calendar for Sowing Seeds?

What kind of information will students be learning in the program?
Students will gain a basic understanding of agriculture and farming as well as receive hands-on training in agribusiness, agri production, farm technology, horticulture, soil science, and much more.

There are hundreds of possible career paths at the local, state, regional, and national levels including farmer, engineer, lawyer, economist, biologist, scientist, and many more.
What is the monthly time commitment each participant should expect?
Every student will be asked to commit to two (2) Wednesdays per month for virtual meetings and one (1) Saturday per month for in-person experiential learning. Each Wednesday meeting will last for one (1) hour, and each Saturday meeting will last for eight (8) hours.
Is there a cost to participate in Sowing Seeds?
The program is offered free of cost to all participants. Students may receive a stipend to cover transportation costs associated with participation.
How many students have participated in Sowing Seeds?
Over 50 students have been served by the program across Arkansas and Mississippi.
How do I request an application?
The application process varies based on the number of returning students. Any interested students or parents can call our office and speak with the Youth Services Department.
Are there any benefits for participants after the program ends?
Program graduates may be eligible for future paid internship opportunities with program partners.
